The DA LAB Foundation presents Dimitra Kousteridou (GR), the first participant in an experimental art-research residency from September 10 to October 4, 2024, in Sofia. During this period, we will hold a public presentation, a one-day workshop, and a performance featuring her.
Natalia Yordanova (1991) is an interdisciplinary visual artist born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and based in Amsterdam.
As part of an ever-evolving exploration of possible worlds and the extensive use of speculation, Natalia’s artistic practice is a projection of the future, a subjective synthesis, and a material proposal for what defines the present moment. Her work engages with the gap between the digital and the physical and weaves narratives of past accumulations into a possible future.
Her education includes a master’s program in Dirty Art at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2020). Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (2018), a Bachelor of Photography from the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts in Bulgaria (2013), and participated in the Erasmus program at Central Saint Martins in London (2017).
Her works have been shown at international exhibitions in the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Belgium, Germany, Egypt, and the United Kingdom.
Raina Teneva (born in 1986) holds a master’s degree in media art from the University of Art and Design in Karlsruhe, Germany. In her work, she presents media narratives that take the form of installations, films, or performances. These narratives stem from artistic research into private and public archives, as well as found photographic and film material. In an era of post-truth, archival material offers a space for raising questions related to memory, the (de)construction of identity, and speculations about the future.
Aaron Roth was born in Los Angeles (1998) and currently lives and works in Sofia. In 2021, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from the Slade School of Fine Art in London. In 2022, together with Boyana Dzhikova and Vikenti Komitski, he founded the “Punta” Gallery in Sofia. He has held solo exhibitions in an abandoned supermarket near Stochna Station in Sofia, at “FLUCA,” the Austrian Cultural Pavilion, and at the “Sarieva” Gallery in Plovdiv.
Yana Vasileva (1995, Plovdiv) lives and works in Sofia. She works in the field of contemporary art, experimenting with various media and techniques, such as live installations, objects, and video. Her interests lie in bioart and digital art, and the themes she explores are related to memory.
GINKGOBILOBA is a project focused on the theme of collective memory. The Ginkgo biloba tree is centuries-old and symbolizes endurance and longevity.
trohi (Peter Parmakov and Yoana Robova) is an artistic duo from Sofia that works in the field of experimental music and sound design. Their approach is free-form; in their compositions, they use a variety of acoustic instruments, analog and digital synthesizers, field recordings, heavily processed vocals, and effects. In addition to their regular live performances, over the past ten years they have participated as composers and sound designers in various projects in the fields of theater, film, contemporary dance and performance art, audiovisual installations, animated films, and more.

Aksiniya Peycheva (Bulgaria)
A Tale of the End is an interdisciplinary project in which the artist Aksiniya Peycheva collaborates with the physicist Martin Yordanov and Yordanka Dermendzhieva (microbiologist).
The project is an ongoing dialogue between visual art, artificial intelligence and microbiology. During this process, a constant transfer of the same visual information occurs between these three fundamentally different fields.

Kunst - art is an experimental animation featuring conversations with real people on topics related to art, philosophy, activism and the environment. A hybrid between documentary and documentary animation, sitcom and show, among the aims of the project is to be educational. The animation will feature guest artists and people from various fields.
