AURA

One-Channel Video Installation Projection Mapping, Print, Drawing 2021

The AURA installation attempts to question society how it treats different? Who are different? Does the vaccine make us different, and wearing masks? AURA is an installation that reflects the mask as a cultural phenomenon.
Today people are used to the mask protecting, but it also reveals.
The measurement of culture between people is based on hypocrisy, and hypocrisy is value in the form of a mask. The constant changing of masks distorts our own self-perception and self-esteem and ultimately distorts what normalcy looks like.
The mask is a transition to the "new normal," but it is also a limitation on an unconscious level.
And because it constrains us in our modernity, it gives us cause to reflect on its value. The ritual mask representing a code and a symbol for the removal of limitation is today's mask that limits, protects and conceals.
The work connected historical symbolism ( the ritual mask ) and contemporary materialism ( the digital mask ) with the social problem of ethics and equality to question how much we are the same.
AURA highlights our responsibility for self-awareness.
The video installation will be presented as a large print in combination with video mapping. The print is conceived as a combination of a photograph of a person ( child ) and a drawing on and around it. The print is printed on removable film, i.e. it is easily removed from walls without damaging them.
The video projection will cover only the part that symbolizes the mask. The content will be based on research and facts on ritual masks in different cultures.
They will be generated and animated through an AI platform that will track age, gender, ethnicity, etc. A projector stand ( 360° Rig ) is provided by the author.
