Dimitra Kousteridou presents her latest work and research at the Fine Arts Academy, exploring sound as energy through self-built instruments and experimental composition. In this exhibition, Kousteridou showcases speaker-instruments, several mineral based found objects, wires and microphones. These objects interact with natural elements, such as sunlight, and explore the transformation of energy into sound, vibration, and movement. The installation culminates in a live electronics performance, where the materials and space become part of an ever-evolving sound environment.
Kousteridou embraces "noise" and interference, engaging with broader, unpredictable ecosystems of influence. She highlights how sound is never pure, but always shaped by the energies and materials that create it. Her unconventional approach to instrument design and composition emphasizes the dialogue between energy and matter, where tones are constantly negotiated, translated, and transformed. Each assemblage of clay, wires, wood, microphones, and electric signals introduces distinct tonalities, distortions, and acoustic variations that shift with time and temperature.
The exhibition features a sound composition specifically created for the space of the historical building, responding to its light as it changes throughout the day. Sound travels across the room, following the shifting expressions of energy through the speakers, materials, and the architecture itself. As daylight fades, the sound installation evolves, leading to a live electronics performance at 20:00, using feedback techniques to engage in conversation with the space as it darkens during sunset.

Dimitra Kousteridou, based in Athens, Greece, is a composer, researcher, and sound artist. Her work seeks to invent new compositional languages that explore the tactile and sonic properties of materials within site-specific installations. Drawing from improvisation, her multidisciplinary practice spans sound installations, performances, and experimental situations, incorporating handmade instruments and interactive sound circuits. She has exhibited and performed widely in Greece and internationally and is a founding member of the experimental project "6.8KOhm Improvisation Series," which brings together musicians and artists in collaborative, improvisational actions.
